For the Miss United States pageant, Gracie shows off her talent of creating music using water glasses. She has an assortment of glasses filled with different amounts of water and plays them to make a song.

Phil demonstrates how to see sound in action using plastic wrap, a bowl, and table salt. The salt moves around the plastic wrap in response to the sound waves. Phil then maxes out the experiment using a Chladni Plate and sand, and he shows how sand makes different shapes based on the frequently that is emitted.

Beakman explains what sound waves and vibration are and explains how these create music. He then goes on to show that the human vocal chords create music due to changing sound vibrations.

Ms. Frizzle and her class learn about vibrations and sound by playing with instruments and hitting objects. They not only hear and feel sound but see it using special glasses. Among many other lessons, they learn that high sounds are created by a fast vibration and low sounds are created by a slow vibration.

Using an oscilloscope, electronic keyboard, and piano, Bill Nye shows what the waves look like for sounds of varying pitches. He also explains how notes and rhythm play a role in forming what we define as music.
