In Kitty Hawk, North Carolina in 1903, Wilbur and Orville Wright are ready for their first attempt at powered flight. The two brothers take turns piloting the plane during different trial runs. They eventually fly their powered airplane successfully for 59 seconds.
Wilbur and Orville Wright test the concept of wing warping with their 1899 kite. They find that it works but need to stay in the air longer to properly test it.
Chuck Yeager finally breaks the sound barrier while piloting an aircraft. The people on the ground initially believe that the sonic boom was Chuck crashing but soon realize that Chuck was successful in his attempt to break the sound barrier.
