Alex, Marty, Melman, and Gloria attempt to fit into the wild after having been raised in the New York City Zoo. During a performance to the Madagascar monkeys, Alex is suddenly overwhelmed by his hunger. He visualizes the audience members as the steaks that he was fed in the zoo and attacks his zebra friend, Marty. The monkeys inform the group that Alex is different from them since he needs meat to survive, and they are his food.
Chris transforms into a sloth to understand how it can hang for so long. The group's impression of sloths is that their lives are relaxing. While in his transformation, however, he is taken away by a harpy eagle and cannot avoid it because of the slow speed at which he is able to move. Chris briefly describes that sloths and harpy eagles have a predator-prey relationship.

Jaguars camouflage and have prey such as spider monkeys, peccary, and rainforest deer. Since these prey are "Jaguar-spotting experts" to keep themselves out of danger, the group uses their help to eventually find a jaguar.
