Beakman explains how a helicopter has a rotating wing on top that helps it stay up because of the air pressure difference created by the shape of the wing. Then he explains that the back propeller helps steer the helicopter.
Beakman challenge: drink punch out of a glass with two straws: one inside the glass and the other outside. The straw outside of the glass causes the air pressure inside the mouth to match the outside of the mouth. Now you don't have the ability to get the liquid to move into the mouth due to the air pressure change since it's the same.
Beakman explains how airplanes fly due to the shape of the wings. He demos this by having two toy airplanes (one with wings and one without) to show that the wings are required. To demonstrate air pressure and imbalance, he holds a piece of paper and blows over it to show that the paper will lift to correct for the imbalance in air pressure. Beakman uses an animated clip to explain how the shape of the airplane wing causes this air pressure imbalance and creates lift.
Beakman challenge: A paper wad is placed in the opening of a bottle. The challenge is to blow it into the bottle, but when Lester tries, the paper wad comes flying out of the bottle. Beakman explains this is because there is already air in the bottle and when you blow into it, the air has to go somewhere so it comes out of the bottle bringing the paper with it.
Beakman challenge: Pick up a jar without touching it. Light a napkin and put it inside of a glass jar. Quickly place an infalted balloon on top of it. The balloon will partially be sucked into the jar due to the change in air pressure so you can pick up the jar by the balloon and not be touching it.
